We understand how important it is and also has stressful it can be for someone to attend appointments so we can be with you to listen or act as an advocate.
We can liaise with medical professionals with your consent to ensure that you have the health care that you need.
We can act as a prompt or ensure that you have reminders to attend appointments as we appreciate that this can be difficult to manage.
We can ensure that you maintain and are enabled to have a healthy, balanced diet. If you struggle with daily cooking, we can help batch cook during the week to make sure you have a fresh meal, that you only have to heat up, if that’s what help make life easier. Depending on support hours, we can help cook or bake from fresh most days. We like to make sure we are helping utilise your hours so we can help you make a food shop online so that hours can be used for something better, for example accompanying you to meetings with other health care professionals or your individual health care team (community mental health worker or social worker). All our support workers drive so we can also go food shopping with you and help you budget.
We are not cleaners but are more than happy to support you to clean and tidy your living environment. We are there to help your mental health so this is paramount in our support but are also able you find a cleaning company. We are also happy to organise your home with you as we understand that the cleanliness of your home can affect your mental health.
We can support you with social engagement such as helping find groups that interest you and support you to attend. We are aware that meeting new people for the first time may be scary so we can be with you and introduce you to the group. This enables you to go alone on a different occasion, if that is what you wish to do. We can go out during our hours to do different activities, for example, bowling, pottery painting and badminton, just to name a few. Depending on how happy people are with groups and social interaction we will be organising bimonthly group activities for all individuals that we support, but no one will be expected to go. If there is something that interests you, let your support worker know and they will inform the organiser and we will set it up. We understand how important it is to make friendships and maintain friendships.
